Community Matters: friendship, isolation & getting along with others (for Years 7 to 9)

Exploring issues of self-worth, peer pressure, resilience, coomunication and friendship, encouraging students to take ownership of creating a healthy community within their school. Increases students' awareness of social isolation and promotes being proactive in seeking healthy friendships and appreciating the differences in one another.

   Bully Proof: keeping safe online and at school (for Years 7 to 10)

    Considers what bullying is, how we treat each other and the dangers of cyber bullying. Identifies and explores the roles of the bully, the target and the bystander. Encourages students to put empathy into practice and the potential impact we have on others and our community.

Resilience: from surviving to thriving (for Years 7 to 12)

This seminar takes a positive and constructive approach to equipping students that may experience stress, anxiety, grief, anger, depression and other difficult emotions. It also provides practical tools that can help students seek help, be proactive in helping others and become more resilient.

   Plugged In: cyber safety and developing real community (for Years 7 to 12)

   With the rise of Facebook and Twitter, this seminar focuses on online safety, cyber-bullying, social networking and developing skills to build healthy community in the online and offline world.

 

Drugs & Alcohol: making positive choices (for Years 7 to 12)

Discusses drugs and alcohol in society - how it impacts the individual and the community.  We also explore why people use drugs and discuss resilience factors for young people.

   Man Up: discovering true masculinity (for Years 7 to 12)

   Explores the influences that affect a young man’s identity (e.g. media, family, peers) and encourages students that being a man is about making a positive difference to others. Considers the importance of rites-of-passage, healthy role models and the need to be others-centred.

Skin Deep: discovering true femininity (for Years 7 to 12)

Examines the cultural messages girls get about what it means to be a woman today. The seminar discusses issues such as relationships, body image and various mixed messages girls are receiving. It also explores the need for students to focus on their character rather than be obsessed with the external.

   Your Score & More: excelling in Year 12 and beyond (for Years 10 to 12)

   Encouraging students to gain and keep perspective during the pressure of completing secondary school. Offers practical tools and explores issues beyond Year 12 that will help them succeed in Year 12 as well as life in general.

Things that Matter Most: developing your life priorities (for Years 8 to 12)

Do money, fame, success and image primarily bring satisfaction in life? This seminar explores these questions and focuses on developing priorities in life through values, character, having a healthy community and making a positive change in the world. Works well for retreat and wellbeing days.

   Lead the Way: making the most of your influence (for Years 7 to 12)

   Encourages students to be effective leaders within the range of skills and talents that they possess. We challenge students to identify and examine their values as well as think about their own character, skills, areas of strengths and weaknesses and the part they are to play as a leader in the school and beyond. 

Anxiety: from worrier to warrior (for Years 7 to 12)

We discuss resilient factors that help students to deal with stress, anxiety and everyday challenges. We explore common thinking errors and practical strategies to enable them to take initiative to deal with their challenges as well as being better prepared for the future.

Secondary School Seminar Info

  • Secondary school seminars may include a single year level, mixed year levels or even a whole school, depending on the number of students.
  • The ideal number of students per seminar is between 60 to 80, with a recomended maximum of 120 - we are happy to adapt for a larger or smaller group.
  • All presenters have a WWCC and we have public liability insurance, OH&S policies and adhere to all the Child Safe Standards
  • Each Seminar usually runs for between 60 to 100 minutes (adapted to your timetable).
  • Options include: a single seminar; a half-day (two seminars), or a full day (e.g. three seminars).

Seminar follow-up booklet(s) including lesson plans and student worksheets.

Costs

  • Costs are calculated on several variables including location and number of seminars, etc. Call or email us for a quick quote.
  • Cancellations: 14 or more days prior to the date incur a 10% administration fee. Less than 14 days receive no refund or you may choose to transfer to another date, subject to availability.
